Games Made Open 2025

An open-source Showcase!

“Games Made Open”

Thank you Toronto Games Week!

On Sunday June 15, 2025 the TTLMakerspace hosted our second annual day-long event “Games Made Open”. It’s a celebration of the vast creativity in gaming and the power of play, and an introduction to the incredible free open-source tools anyone can use right now. Many thanks go to the team with Toronto Games Week for organising the week-long festival and inviting us to participate.

Another Great Year!

Attendance at Games Made Open 2025 was brisk, with all workshops filling up. In total more than 40 people attended 3-hour workshops getting their introduction to open-source tools for making games. Many more people came through to browse, play the mini-arcades, grab a snack and tour the makerspace.

The NextGen event was standing-room only, full of amazing games from local developers.

Many Thanks to AMD Canada for supplying 20 powerful gaming rigs for the event!!

2025 NextGen Showcase

This year 10 outstanding games were featured from local developers, chosen from among 45 entrants who applied to the showcase. The public was invited in to play and meet the developers. The space really filled up with game enthusiasts!

Print services were supplied by TTLMakerspace. We were happy to provide large-sized posters created in the makerspace so each entrant could show off their artwork.

The Mini Arcade!

This year, we’ll also be showcasing what we’ve made!

Designed in open-source CAD and produced entirely at TTLMakerspace, the mini-arcades are a fun example of what is possible. This year they got a real workout! Folks learned about the hardware and software involved, and even got to play games made right in the makerspace in our popular Game Development program!
